how did it all start?

Fascinating to see how lists grow and communities grow! Phds are being written on the subject, but for what it is worth I want to thank the people who really pushed the pledge in the early days. There are a few. First and foremost Chris Anderson, Curator of the TED conference who offered a prize on the TED Blog for the best idea to go on Pledgebank. So I was the lucky winner and agreed, of course, to put the prize money into setting this new service up!

We gave ourselves two months to get 250 pledges and in the last week got an amazing additional 100 that took us to 350 pledgers and 350 would-be global mentors.

So many people have asked me why I did it? I promise an answer on this blog soon.
